Global Beta Test for Dark and Darker Mobile
The mobile version of Dark and Darker is gearing up for a global beta test in the U.S., Japan, Turkey, and South Korea. Running from August 1 to 11, players in these regions can register on the game's website until July 31. Pre-downloads are available now.
Exclusive Beta Rewards
Participants in the beta will be rewarded with 20,000 Platinum coins, the in-game currency for *Dark and Darker*, valued at approximately $145.
Development and Background
The mobile adaptation of Dark and Darker is being developed by Krafton, the publisher of PUBG: Battlegrounds, in collaboration with Korean developer Ironmace. The mobile version was first announced in August of the previous year.
Legal Controversies
Dark and Darker made headlines last year when Ironmace faced a copyright infringement lawsuit from Nexon. Following a DMCA takedown in March 2023, the game was removed from Steam. The development team even launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $500,000 for legal fees. In January 2024, however, a court denied Nexon’s request for an injunction.
PC and Early Access Releases
In August 2023, the PC version of Dark and Darker was released in early access through Chaf Games, a Steam competitor, and later became available on the Epic Games Store earlier this year.
Mobile Version Details
The mobile version of Dark and Darker features both a PvE mode and a PvPvE mode. It includes a Sidekick system, allowing players to recruit AI-controlled NPCs specifically for PvE dungeons.
